Clothing Care

Good clothes deserve a bit of looking after. A little care goes a long way, whether it's the cotton shirt you reach for every week or the merino snood that sees you through the winter. Here are a few things we do ourselves, along with the natural cedar and lavender we use in our own wardrobes to keep moths away.

Caring for your cotton shirts

Wash at 30–40°C, inside out. It keeps colours and checks looking fresh for longer.

Don't overload the machine. Shirts need room to move or they'll come out more creased than they went in.

Never tumble dry. Hang straight onto a hanger and do up the top button so the collar keeps its shape.

Iron while slightly damp. Collar first, then cuffs, sleeves and the body. Moths love wool most of all, so tuck a cedar block or lavender bag in alongside it.

Keeping moths away, naturally

Our cedar and lavender pieces are made by Redecker, a German family business crafting household goods since 1935. There are no chemicals and no smell of mothballs, just a fresh, woody scent every time you open the wardrobe. Always store clothes clean, because moths are drawn to anything that's been worn.
