Nestled near the River Inny and Royal Canal in Abbeyshrule, Co. Longford, Fiona and Pat McCormack are the beekeeping duo behind The Farmhouse. Alongside their two children, they care for native Irish honey bees across four apiaries, each within 10km of Abbeyshrule.
For Fiona, what began as a family tradition has become a deep passion, preserving the native Irish honey bee and producing some of the purest honey youāll find anywhere in Ireland. Their bees work hard across the seasons, creatingĀ Spring, Summer, Heather and Ivy honey ā each with its own flavour, texture, and story.
Every jar is raw, unblended, and naturally filtered , just as nature intended. Fiona and Pat also craft pure beeswax candles, continuing a tradition that connects land, nature, and craft.
Their dedication has earned The Farmhouse recognition as a conservation area for native Irish honeybees, ensuring that the next generation can experience the same magic of the Irish countryside that Fiona grew up with.
Itās people like Fiona, rooted in nature, passionate about their craft, and quietly making a difference , who remind us why Irish farming and food production matter so much. š¾š
